HOST International is a growing not-for-profit organisation aimed at providing direct relief and strategic support services to improve the livelihoods of refugees, asylum seekers and other displaced people throughout the world.

The Bid and Grant Writer will report to the Chief Executive, NZ and is responsible for developing and coordinating strategic winning proposals and tenders for new projects on behalf of HOST International New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate tender responses and grant applications with internal staff and/or external stakeholders;
  • Researching, writing and editing tender responses and grant applications;
  • Networking in the sector to develop content;
  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive, NZ to ensure effective and timely submissions of tenders and grants; and
  • Recording and maintaining all documentation (i.e. certificates, compliance letters, licenses etc).

Selection Criteria:

Essential

  • 3 plus years’ experience in grant writing, preparing applications for submission, tender responses and/or other professional documents;
  • Understanding of the resettlement funding environment for NFPs in New Zealand;
  • Highly developed organisational skills and an ability to multi-task and set priorities;
  • Be a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • High level written, verbal and electronic communication skills;
  • A positive attitude, energy and enthusiasm and ability to work in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision;
  • Confidence to confidently navigate new computer systems and an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and
  • Ability to be innovative and responsive.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline; and
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit context.
